Rewrite of First Chapters

Claire updated me with a much better sketch of Gilbert:

I'm very pleased at this rendition of Gil. He's a late-entry love-interest and has the slowest development of all the LIs I have planned. I hope many readers will come to appreciate those lovely lips of his.

And an updated sketch of Edith in her "battle dress uniform". 

As well as the first few goes with color. Aren't her curls magnificent? Claire is doing excellent work!

On the writing front: I've been slamming my head against the wall for a decent prologue and have been re-writing the first few chapters to include the covey on their last mission. Though most of the demo is more or less done in writing, I intend to have it critiqued at least two more times by different writing groups. So far the response has been positive, and it's been motivating me to write more.

Writing has not yet felt like a chore, though getting a quiet and solitary moment to myself is extremely difficult when you have a toddler on the loose.
